Advancement Events Review and Recommendations
A Hawk’s Eye View of Events
Viewing the event calendar, policies, and execution from a new angle to help ensure that every university event truly soars.
With a new president and a new senior vice president for advancement, St. Joseph’s University asked Educe to provide a high-level review of the university’s signature advancement events, evaluate their effectiveness, and recommend ways to improve their production value and intentionality. We looked at every aspect of event planning, procedures, and execution, from invitations to programming and the RSVP process. We worked closely with the university’s internal team, mined existing data, and spent time on campus to build an understanding of SJU’s culture and advancement objectives. Our deliverable, including actionable recommendations from 30,000-foot strategies to street level procedural steps, empowered the university’s internal team to build a campus-wide events process that supports the needs of all internal stakeholders while elevating the quality of all events to support institutional objectives.
New campus leadership can be the catalyst for re-imagining a university’s event calendar and approach. Our clients often ask us to bring an outsider’s perspective. By examining every aspect of event planning and execution with a fresh eye, we can identify policies, procedures, and approaches that can make events more intentional and impactful.
In implementing the recommendations from this project, St. Joseph’s adopted new processes and protocols that helped facilitate internal collaboration and elevate events campus-wide, reinforced the internal event team’s role and expertise, and—most important—helped to improve guest experience and event effectiveness.
