Changing the World—Near and Far
Celebrating a university’s impact around the world—and in its own neighborhood.
On the eve of its annual Volunteer Leadership Summit, Johns Hopkins University brought together more than 400 of its closest friends and supporters to celebrate the university’s game-changing impact on the world. Against the backdrop of Baltimore’s landmark B&O Railroad Museum, Johns Hopkins historian Bill Leslie enlisted the help of students to bring to life stories of global significance in the fields of environmental advocacy, space exploration, education reform, biotechnology, and public health. Offering a demonstration of the university’s impact closer to home, the evening wrapped with a spirited performance by the Peabody Estelle Dennis Boys Program, a ground-breaking tuition-free opportunity for select boys from Baltimore City and nearby counties who have potential and love to dance.
“We count on the Educe team to bring a fresh, creative approach to the Hopkins story, and they never fail to deliver. Importantly, they are strong partners in the strategy and planning process as well as in the execution. I always know that our external AND internal stakeholders will be pleased with the outcome of our work together.”
Susan Baisley, Associate Vice President, Constituent Engagement, Johns Hopkins University
The university’s goal for the evening was to celebrate guests and honor their commitment to the university’s success, arouse pride in the university, strengthen the desire to be connected to it and inspire continued engagement, share the latest updates on the university’s achievements, and shine a spotlight on Baltimore and the university’s positive work for and in the city.
Within a venue that celebrates Baltimore’s important place in our country’s history and commerce, moments of individual and collective recognition highlighted the contributions of supporters present that evening and throughout the university’s history. Key stories were shared, underscoring the university’s readiness and willingness to tackle some of the world’s most vexing problems. Guests were included in of-the-moment updates pertaining to the Rising to the Challenge campaign. Baltimore-Hopkins partnerships were brought to life in entertaining ways.
